We’re looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Communications Advisor to help us connect locals and visitors with the stories of people and places in the Kirkcaldy Area.
As Place and Tourism Communications Advisor for the Kirkcaldy Area, you will provide professional media and communications expertise to help promote local stories that connect people with the place they live, and encourage others to visit the area.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Creating and delivering coordinated multi-channel communications with partners and alongside the community.
2. Contributing to developing a consistent and compelling vision for the area.
3. Enabling effective stakeholder and community engagement.
4. Developing a network of local influencers and contributors to help shape the story of Kirkcaldy and surrounding areas.
5. Amplifying the voice of residents and communities, highlighting local heritage and community-led initiatives that support the aims of the local community plan and the Plan for Fife.
You’ll be based in Kirkcaldy Town House and will need to travel around Kirkcaldy, Burntisland, Auchtertool and Kinghorn as part of your work in, and with, communities. Day to day you’ll work with the Community Manager, as well as being connected to the council’s communications team.
You’ll be part of a busy team working to improve local lives.
The Person
You must have an HNC in communications or marketing or equivalent professional qualification or proven experience in a similar communications or marketing role.
We need someone flexible and enthusiastic, committed to improving local information and community engagement, who can work as part of a busy team.
You’ll also be able to show that you are:
6. able to communicate ideas and details clearly and effectively in writing and verbally.
7. familiar with best practice in media and communications, including use of digital/social platforms and tools.
8. experienced at informing and engaging a broad stakeholder group.
9. able to prioritise workloads to set and meet deadlines, and respond well under pressure.
10. a confident, creative self-starter who can work independently while staying connected to your wider team and networks.
