The Family Based Care Service has recently gone through a process of re-design. This role relates to a Social Worker position within the Fostering Team.
The Fostering Team structure has been created to offer a service that improves outcomes for children, young people and their families. The core components of this role are outlined below:
1. Supporting interim, emergency and short break Carers.
2. Recruitment and Assessment of Foster Carers.
3. Reviewing Foster Carers.
4. Family finding.
5. Recruitment and assessment of Foster Carers.
6. Preparation groups.
7. Support groups.
8. Supervision of Foster Carers.
9. Report writing.
10. Enhanced/additional support at times of crisis.
11. Life story work.
12. Training.
13. Attendance at LAC reviews, LAC CGMs, education and therapeutic meetings.
You will be required to work within service processes and procedures to assess and undertake appropriate and relevant planning for children and their caregivers to ensure positive outcomes are completed within timescales. We want to be firmly embedded within The Promise where all our children and young people grow up healthy and safe.
You should have experience in being able to successfully negotiate and liaise with partner agencies to plan interventions and supports for children and their families.

The Person
A Degree (BA Hons) in Social Work (or equivalent) qualification is essential, as is registration with the Scottish Social Services Council.
You must have the ability to travel throughout Fife.
You will have knowledge and understanding of Child and Adult Protection guidelines and information sharing protocols and experience of joint working to achieve common goals.
You will be required to register with Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) within 3 months of taking up employment in this role and to complete the required Post Registration Training and Learning CPL (continued professional learning) over the first registration period.
Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.
As this role requires SSSC registration, you will have three months to apply for registration.
If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you're registered within the required six months.
If you need to achieve a qualification to maintain your SSSC membership, information will be provided if you are appointed. You must ensure you complete the qualification within the specified timeframe.
