TheWellcomeTrust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leadingpolicyand advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

These challenges need the bold science we support, but theywon’tbe solved by science alone.

We are looking for a Pensions Manager to join our team on a part-time basis (3 days/week).

Where inWellcomewill I be working?

You will be managing the Pension plans within the Reward and Wellbeing team reporting to theHead of Reward & Wellbeing.

You will be working within theRewardandWellbeingTeam.Theteamis responsiblefordeveloping, implementing, and managingemployeereward,benefitsand wellbeingprogrammes, policies and processes which are market competitive and can help attract andretaintalent. The team is also responsible to ensure that employee benefitsincluding the pensionofferings areequitable, meet employee needs,comply withlegal requirements, and are cost effective.

This role will report to theHead of Reward & Wellbeing

What will I be doing?

In this role, you will take responsibility for managingWellcome'sdefined contribution (DC) scheme and closed defined benefit (DB) scheme. Your primary focus will be to support members, trustees, and stakeholders, whilst managing all aspects of the pension schemes. You will serve as the primary point of contact for all pension-related matters. Additionally, there may be opportunities to contribute to other benefits-related projects as needed. 

As a Pensions Manager, you will:

1. OverseeWellcome’sDefined Benefit and Defined Contribution Pension Schemes,identifyingand implementing new initiatives and managing relationships with trustees and stakeholders.

2. Develop and manage the annual calendar and 3-year roadmap for pension schemes, ensuring compliance with statutory, regulatory, and legal requirements.

3. Deliver new starter meetings and manage pension communications, updating guidance and policies, and promoting the pension offering through new initiatives.

4. Lead project management efforts related to pensions, manage the internal risk register, and ensure cost-effective service from scheme administrators.

5. Work collaboratively on complex pension matters, manage the DC Governance Committee

6. Contribute to a diverse and inclusive culture across the organisation, collaborating across departments.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and adaptable individual with demonstrable experience in pension management, capable of delivering high-quality projects within tight deadlines. They shouldpossessstrong communicationand interpersonal skills, enabling them to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, whilemaintainingsensitivity and confidentiality.

We are looking for someone with:

7. Proven ability to adapt to changing priorities and handle arising issues effectively.

8. Demonstrable experience in managing Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit pension schemes.

9. Strong initiative with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

10. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building relationships and presenting well-reasoned arguments.

11. Meticulous attention to detail, with strong analytical skills to manage data accurately and confidentially.

12. Experience in managing budgets and headcount, leading high-performing teams, and fostering inclusive working environments.
