Job Description:
Combat Medical Technicians (CMT) as part of the Royal New Zealand Army Medical Corps (RNZAMC) provide vital medical support in both battlefield and field hospital environments.
As a CMT in the Army Reserve, you will be trained in various specialist skills including First Aid, Combat Life Saving, Advanced Trauma, Ambulance, and Resuscitation skills, alongside infantry skills and tactics. The RNZAMC uniquely separates regular and reserve forces into two trades: RF (medic trade) and CMT (reserve trade).
Career progression and training
Training includes three stages over approximately 7 weeks: MOD 1 (Introduction), MOD 2 (Basic Training), and Corps Training (trade-specific). These are conducted across New Zealand at specified locations and involve residential courses and modular training.
Entry requirements
* Minimum age 17 years
* Preferably hold a Class 1 restricted driver's licence
* No prior health experience necessary, but must be medically fit for service
* Colour perception restrictions may apply
* Strict citizenship and security requirements for CV security clearance
Salary and benefits
Reservists are paid hourly, with a minimum daily rate of $176 including holiday pay, plus 4% Kiwisaver contributions. Pay increases with rank and seniority.
