Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Punjabi-speaking Care Assistant to provide domiciliary (home) care services to clients in their own homes. This role involves delivering person-centred care to help clients maintain their independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality personal care and support to clients in their own homes
* Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
* Support clients with mobility and transfers using appropriate moving and handling techniques
* Administer medications in accordance with care plans and prescribed protocols
* Prepare nutritious meals and assist with eating and drinking as required
* Perform light domestic duties, including cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe home environment
* Monitor and record clients' health, well-being, and any changes in condition
* Report concerns or changes to senior staff and healthcare professionals promptly
* Provide companionship and emotional support to reduce isolation and promote well‑being
* Follow individual care plans and respect clients' choices, dignity, and independence
Essential Requirements
* Understanding of safeguarding procedures and commitment to protecting vulnerable adults
* Ability to work independently and manage your own time effectively
* Physical capability to perform moving and handling tasks safely
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Compassionate, patient, respectful approach to care
* Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays
* Willingness to travel between clients' homes within the local area
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
* NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards)
* Experience supporting clients with dementia, learning disabilities, or complex needs
* Moving and handling certification
* First Aid at Work qualification
* Medication administration training
* Experience working with care planning and documentation
