About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Independent Nurse Prescriber or Pharmacist Prescriber to join our friendly and dynamic Substance Use Services team in Lewisham.
This is a rewarding role for a clinician passionate about delivering evidence-based drug and alcohol treatment, including in-depth alcohol assessments and community alcohol detoxes. You will work autonomously while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to achieve excellent outcomes for service users, their families, and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities
* Carry out comprehensive clinical assessments, with or without prescribing, in line with national and organisational guidelines
* Prescribe a range of medications (including controlled drugs) safely and cost-effectively
* Deliver alcohol assessments and community alcohol detox programmes
* Undertake service user-centred assessments, care planning, monitoring, reviews, and evaluations
* Provide Blood Borne Virus (BBV) risk assessments, testing, immunisation, and pre/post-test counselling
* Deliver health promotion and harm reduction interventions (e.g. safer sex, contraception, nutrition, healthy living)
* Promote and deliver Hepatitis B immunisation in line with national guidance
* Work collaboratively with pharmacists, GPs, shared care services, and hospital teams
* Maintain accurate and secure clinical records and contribute to service data reporting
* Deliver clinical interventions across multiple hubs and undertake outreach work as required
* Participate in clinical governance, audits, incident reporting, and service improvement initiatives
* Engage in continuous professional development, supervision, training, and appraisal
* Support other substance misuse services during service mobilisation when required
Essential Qualifications & Registration
* First-level Registered Nurse or Registered Pharmacist
* Qualified Independent Prescriber
* RCGP Level 1 (Level 2 or willingness to work towards)
Essential Experience & Skills
Experience delivering evidence-based treatments in substance misuse
Experience carrying out general health assessments, including BBV screening
Strong knowledge of harm reduction and health promotion approaches
Ability to work autonomously and make sound clinical decisions
Experience using electronic clinical record systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Outlook)
Understanding of the social context of drug and alcohol misuse
Desirable
Knowledge of national drug and alcohol strategies
Experience working across public and voluntary sector services
Awareness of audit processes and quality improvement
