Overview
Assistant Practitioner – Hitchin (Brainkind). Location: Hitchin, Hertfordshire. Salary: £13.40 – £13.88 per hour DOE. Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Full-time, Flexible working.
About Brainkind: A charity focused on improving the lives of people with brain injuries in the UK. We provide neurorehabilitation through assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals to support individuals in recovering skills and achieving personal goals. Main responsibilities
* To support the assessment, planning, and consistent implementation and evaluation of individualized health care for an identified group of service users within the scope of competency/practice or under the direction of the registered professional, liaising with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality care.
* Maintain high standards of care delivery by working within assessed areas of competency, following national clinical guidelines and Brainkind policies and procedures. Support junior and new staff.
* Ensure continuity of patient care by communicating with nurses, therapists and colleagues, providing accurate and timely reports of any changes in the condition of the resident.
* Promote choice in all aspects of clinical practice, review and suggest ways to enhance patient/resident and carer experience, and enable concerns and complaints to be raised freely.
* Promote an organisational culture where staff are empowered to challenge inappropriate or unsafe practice using appropriate organisational processes.
* Facilitate the safe and smooth running of the service, maintain a safe working environment, protect service user confidentiality, and undertake reasonable additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
* Essential: Level 5 Foundation Degree in Assistant Practitioner (Healthcare).
* Experience of working in healthcare; desirable experience in a specialist service (e.g., Neuro/Palliative).
* Experience of working within a clinical setting; knowledge of relevant legislation and its impact on current practice; experience in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Effective verbal and written communication; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with clients and colleagues; ability to respond to people in distress.
