Job Description
We are seeking an experienced civil engineer to join AFRY’s Energy Division within the expanding Thermal and Renewable Energy team in the UK. You will support clients through all project stages, including feasibility studies, technology assessments, due diligence, FEED studies, owner’s engineer services, EPCM, operations, and maintenance support, as well as expert witness services.
Your Tasks
1. Providing engineering expertise and guidance on project challenges;
2. Preparing specifications for civil engineering aspects of energy projects;
3. Reviewing and supporting design processes;
4. Delivering design outputs such as drawings, specifications, and cost estimates;
5. Compiling technical reports and documentation;
6. Monitoring site construction activities;
7. Continuously improving technical skills and knowledge;
8. Maintaining accurate project records;
9. Identifying and mitigating health & safety, design, sustainability, and commercial risks;
10. Supporting company goals and representing AFRY professionally;
11. Participating in business development activities;
12. Supporting the development of junior engineers.
Qualifications
* Minimum 2:1 degree in civil engineering;
* Chartered Engineer status;
* Knowledge of UK energy sector codes and standards (Eurocodes, British Standards);
* Problem-solving skills and ability to structure complex situations;
* Proactive decision-making skills;
* Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral;
* Ability to work under pressure and travel as needed;
* Experience or knowledge in civil/structural design, energy projects, site investigations, CAD software, and BIM environment is advantageous but not essential.
