Detailed job description and main responsibilities Perform phlebotomy/ venepuncture for blood tests, urinalysis, pregnancy tests and other microbiology sampling. Perform 12 Lead ECG and escalate appropriately to registered nurse or doctor. Once training and assessment of competence is obtained carrying out tasks and planned care as designated by a registered nurse demonstrating the ability to work independently. If the patient's observations gives rise to concerns, or are triggered on the early warning system, report to the registered nurses so the care can be take over for main assessments and liaise with the medical team regarding the treatment plan. Contribute to the promotion of equality for all individuals by supporting anti-discriminatory practice, patient/client choice and acknowledging individuals personal beliefs and identity. To appropriately respond in the event of a health/clinical emergency e.g. cardiac arrest, post procedure complication etc. To carry out patient pre-assessment observations independently. Admit and attend to patients coming to Cardiac Centre for various procedures. Assist and support the registered nurses in the recovery of post procedure patients independently. Following completion of competency assessment, manage post angiogram/angioplasty arterial puncture sites independently. Document observations, variations and events in the integrated care pathway of patients and escalate any deterioration in patient's condition handing the care to registered nurses and doctors for expert assessments and treatments. Circulate in the Cathlab for simple procedures independently, following completion of competency assessment. Use and follow radiation protection gear and protocol. Use appropriate PPE and comply with the Trust's Infection control Policy and Procedure Provide health care support and assistance to all areas of the Cardiology Division when required.
