Applications are invited from suitably experienced and qualified Clinical Technologists for the post of Medical Equipment Technician in the Department of Medical Physics and Bio-Engineering at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.

The appointee, supported by the section's Clinical Engineers, Technologists and Administrative staff, will be responsible for maintenance and repair of a wide range of medical equipment. This includes fault finding, repairing breakdowns, performing scheduled preventive maintenance, safety checks, assisting with the investigation of medical equipment related incidents and problem solving in the clinical environment.

The post requires a degree or technical HND or equivalent qualification in an electronics or medical engineering discipline, and experience of working within an electronic servicing role. Alternatively, candidates with extensive, relevant experience will also be considered.

We are looking for applicants who are self-motivated and able to work effectively within a team to ensure the day-to-day running of the service. Good interpersonal skills are essential, as is a flexible and methodical approach to completion of the required tasks. This post also involves travelling and working at various hospitals, health centres, and medical practices throughout NHS Highland.

Candidates must hold a full valid driving licence.

We are open to applications from individuals interested in a trainee position under Annex 21. Posts with Annex 21 applied receive a percentage of the fully qualified rate. For periods of training lasting between one and four years, pay will be adjusted as follows:

(i) up to one year (365 days) prior to completion of training: 75 per cent of the pay band maximum of the fully qualified rate

(ii) more than one (366 days+) but less than two years prior to completion of training: 70 per cent of the pay band maximum of the qualified rate
