Position Overview
Nottingham University Business School China Prof. Yanjun Guan’s research team is seeking an outstanding Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the postdoctoral research station in business administration for the development of University of Nottingham Ningbo China research agenda.
Responsibilities
* Formulate and articulate research objectives, develop proposals for individual and collaborative projects using established methodologies to execute research within the specified area.
* Analyze data meticulously, interpret findings, evaluate scholarly texts, and contribute innovative insights while adhering to project deadlines and collaborating seamlessly with team members and partners.
* Write up research work for publication and/or contribute to dissemination at national/international conferences to achieve successful research outputs.
* Identify opportunities and assist in writing bids for research grant applications.
* Build relationships with internal and external contacts to exchange information, form future collaborations, and identify potential sources of funds and opportunities.
Qualifications
* Obtained a PhD within 3 years in business administration or data analytics, such as Applied Psychology, Organisational Behaviour, Statistics, Machine Learning, etc.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Chinese is a plus.
* High analytical ability to analyze and illuminate data, interpret reports, evaluate and critique texts, and generate new insights.
* Ability to creatively apply relevant research approaches, models, techniques, and methods.
* Ability to assess and organize resource requirements and deploy them effectively.
* Ability to build relationships and collaborate with others, both internally and externally.
* Some practical experience applying specialist skills and approaches required for the role.

About the Research Team
Professor Yanjun Guan is a distinguished scholar in organisational management and psychology, with degrees from Peking University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He is the first Chinese full professor at Durham University Business School and now serves at UNNC. His research is published in top journals such as the Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology and the Journal of Management. He has held key editorial roles, including associate editor of the Journal of Vocational Behaviour and currently the Journal of Cross‑Cultural Psychology. A recipient of a national top talent program, Professor Guan is dedicated to fostering research excellence in China. Dr. Yanze Liang, an Assistant Professor at UNNC, focuses on international business and strategy. His work has been published in leading journals like the Journal of World Business and secured funding and recognition through provincial and municipal talent programmes. About the Project
This project will contribute to existing literature by developing a comprehensive, unified framework that unifies disparate conceptualisations of job search success and identifies new dimensions relevant to the evolving career development landscape. It will propose and test a multi‑dimensional measure to assess job seekers’ subjective success, with content validity substantiated by qualitative and quantitative studies and generalisability demonstrated through data from diverse cultural backgrounds and employment statuses. It will also examine how these dimensions predict subsequent career outcomes, enhancing understanding of how aspects of job search success influence career sustainability. These findings will underpin the development of targeted, evidence‑based strategies in career and talent management.
Remuneration, Benefits and Support
You will be offered a fixed‑term contract with UNNC for 2 years. A minimum annual salary package of 269,906 RMB is provided, along with a competitive benefits package. Postdoctoral Research Fellows may apply for 50,000 RMB in research funding after commencement.
