About The Role
As an Associate Civil Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to lead technical delivery, manage multi-disciplinary teams, and work closely with clients to bring visionary projects to life. You’ll balance strategic thinking with hands-on engineering expertise. About You
We are looking for someone who is personable, a self-starter with the ability to project a positive “can do” professional attitude at all times, maintaining good working relationships. Someone who enjoys working collaboratively across disciplines, establishing excellent working rapport within the team, with clients, and with other consultants. Ability to work under pressure, handle a varied workload, and meet tight deadlines while maintaining the highest level of technical excellence.
In the role of Associate Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:
* Design, manage and supervise project delivery, establish client brief, technical requirements, scope of works, cost plan and deliverables (report, specifications and drawings) for all projects within the group.
* Agree level of service commensurate with fee with the Director for each project. Manage fee draw-down and assist the Director with invoicing.
* Assist the Group Leader to monitor resources relative to each project, monthly allowable fee expenditure, defining monthly CAD requirements and two-weekly engineering workload forecasts.
* Carry out engineering concept design to detailed design, tender and on-site supervision to completion, ensuring deadlines are met via frequent design reviews.
* Ensure all design projects and reports are technically compliant to a consistent quality and standard. Maintain regular in-house design reviews and checks.
* Monitor contract staff or third-party appointments for the team.
* Maintain excellent client relationships and promote a team approach to achieve high client satisfaction and repeat business. Manage client expectations.
* Pursue new business opportunities with existing clients and develop new opportunities where appropriate; participate in company presentations.
* Motivate and develop staff within the group, set objectives, monitor performance, and coach to optimise potential.
* Assist Group Leader with identifying and implementing personal training/CPD and development requirements.
* Monitor and control project progress, design variations and project financial budgets.
* Implement management and administration systems (timesheets/expenses), coordinate holiday leave within the group.
* Implement and manage QA systems and procedures on all projects.
* Implement Company Health and Safety; ensure all designs respond to CDM regulations.
* Assist with project archiving at end of project completion.
* Accurately complete timesheets, assist with invoices and reporting requirements and submit in accordance with formats and deadlines.
* Adopt Civil and Structural engineering rules and regulations to protect the company’s reputation and Professional Indemnity.
Required Qualifications
* BEng, MSc in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or equivalent subject.
* Incorporated Status in chosen discipline preferred and ongoing pursuit of Chartered status and business qualifications if not already achieved.
* Minimum 7 years’ industry experience, ideally in a design consultancy. Experience in the Data Centre industry is highly desirable.
* Experience in designing and managing projects.
* Able to undertake computer modelling, organise and direct production of CAD drawings, and communicate effectively with other consultants.
* Skills in project management on-going jobs with limited supervision are desirable.
* Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint.
