Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a market-leading heavy engineering and fabrication business, recognised for delivering complex infrastructure and maritime projects across a variety of sectors. With a strong order book and long-standing reputation, this organisation is trusted to deliver large-scale projects to exacting quality, safety, and performance standards. This is a 100% site-based role in Tyneside, leading from the front in a busy, hands-on environment. You’ll act as the key interface between the company and its customers, driving projects from inception to completion and ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, and to budget.
Responsibilities
* Take full ownership of multi-million-pound heavy fabrication projects, managing planners, engineers, production, and quality teams.
* Coordinate resources, control budgets, and ensure all deliverables are met.
* Build strong customer relationships, instilling trust and confidence through clear communication, proactive problem solving, and consistent delivery.
* Monitor earned value, manage change control, and address challenges in real time, ensuring that every detail is accounted for.
Qualifications
* Proven track record managing large-scale fabrication, shipbuilding, defence, or complex engineering projects.
* An engineering qualification (mechanical or similar), backed by recognised project management training (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
* Strong understanding of project lifecycles, change control, and cost management.
* Experience with earned value tracking and performance reporting.
* Proficiency in project planning tools such as MS Project or Primavera.
* Confident communicator, able to influence senior stakeholders and manage customer expectations.
