Position Summary:


The Director of Business Development is responsible for growing our market share of BESS in the UK and Ireland region. This role is in a key position which requires the complex selling of existing products whilst also formulating innovative solutions that meet our customer’s future requirements. The ideal candidate will form productive, long lasting, and sustainable relationships with external and internal business partners (both suppliers and customers) to ensure the ongoing and focused development and success of our planned business expansion in this region.


Responsibilities:

* Proactively identify, originate, and pursue new business opportunities within the UK and Ireland energy storage market.
* Act as a senior ambassador for e-STORAGE, building strong relationships with developers, IPPs, utilities, investors, and EPCs.
* Lead front-end business development activity, from initial engagement and qualification through to commercial negotiation and deal closure.
* Actively attend, represent, and network at industry conferences, trade shows, and sector events to generate leads and strengthen market presence.
* Develop and maintain a robust and forward-looking sales pipeline, ensuring consistent opportunity flow aligned with growth targets.
* Engage early with customers to shape commercial discussions, understand strategic drivers, and position e-STORAGE solutions competitively.
* Work closely with internal technical, commercial, and legal teams to progress opportunities efficiently.
* Monitor competitor activity, market dynamics, and customer investment trends to inform our growth strategy and to target clients and opportunities.
* Drive repeat business and long-term partnerships through strong relationship management and trusted advisor status.
* Provide regular pipeline, market, and deal-status updates to senior leadership.


Requirements:

* Minimum 10 years’ experience in business development or sales-led roles within energy, infrastructure, or related sectors.
* Proven track record of originating and closing complex, high-value deals.
* Strong hunter mentality with a passion for networking, relationship building, and market engagement.
* Confident operating at senior stakeholder and C-suite level.
* Entrepreneurial, commercially astute, competitive, and results-driven.
* Willing and able to travel extensively (expected 50–60%) to support customer engagement and event attendance.
