Cover Supervisor (SEN)
Location: Secondary Schools across Teesside
Contract: Full‑Time / Part‑Time
Start Date: ASAP
We are recruiting a motivated Cover Supervisor with an interest or experience in Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role is ideal for graduates or aspiring teachers looking to gain valuable, hands‑on experience supporting pupils with additional needs in a secondary school setting.
This position offers an excellent stepping stone into teaching, educational psychology, SEN teaching, or pastoral roles.
The Role
* Supervise pre‑planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
* Provide focused support to pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and learning difficulties
* Use positive behaviour and SEN‑aware strategies to promote engagement
* Offer emotional and academic support to help pupils access learning
* Work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
The Ideal Candidate
* A graduate or aspiring teacher with a strong interest in SEN
* Previous experience working with children or young people (e.g. tutoring, mentoring, support work, care, youth work, coaching, or volunteering)
* Calm, patient, and resilient with a nurturing approach
* Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
* Keen to develop classroom and behaviour‑management experience
