Culture Projects Officer
We’re looking for an outstanding and enthusiastic Culture Projects Officer to support the Croydon Council culture team in delivering arts and heritage events, creative wellbeing initiatives, and library service engagement.
Our small team builds on the legacy of London Borough of Culture (LBoC), celebrating Croydon’s unique culture and communities through family events, outdoor arts, concerts, exhibitions, visual arts, textiles and crafts, grant programmes, creative wellbeing projects, and more.
As we prepare for our second LBoC legacy year, we will host large and medium-scale events such as Croydon Harvest, A Very Croydon Christmas, and Open House. There will be a special focus on composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor and an outdoor programme in partnership with the National Gallery. Our Creative Wellbeing colleagues will run commissioning and grants supporting communities across the borough. Additionally, our Library and Museum Teams will expand their outreach and public programmes.
You will be a dynamic project administrator with a strong interest and preferably experience in arts and culture. Key responsibilities include supporting event management, managing evaluation data and records, supporting event marketing (including managing the photo library and permissions), administering grant programmes and panels, and coordinating the Cultural Attache staff network. You should understand the role of culture in supporting regeneration and wellbeing. A commitment to inclusive working is essential.
Excellent people skills are necessary, as you will work closely with artists, creative practitioners, communities, colleagues, and external partners. Strong numeracy skills, attention to detail, and good organization are critical.
You should be able to work independently, flexibly, and manage a busy event schedule. Some weekend and evening work is required, particularly from August to October 2025, when a Tuesday–Saturday pattern may be preferred.
The role is initially offered as a one-year fixed-term contract, with potential for extension subject to funding.
Full time, 36 hours/week. To view the role profile, please click here.
Closing date: 16 May 2025 @ 11:59 pm
