We are seeking a Materials Management Assistant to join our professional and customer focused Logistics and Supply Chain team. From managing inventory to optimising supply routes, this role is at the forefront of healthcare logistics, making a tangible impact on patient care.
The post holder will assist in the daily materials management service for dedicated areas within the Trust primarily working in our Wards and Departments but may be required to cover areas such as Theatres and Emergency departments.
The job is for 37.5 hours a week which will be made up of 7.5 hours daily shifts between the hours of 08:00 – 16:00 Monday to Friday
Operating within broad procedural guidelines the objective for the post holder is to ensure a timely and effective top up stock and non-stock system, replenishing stock to agreed levels, checking receipt deliveries, and put away of goods.
Most of the working day will be spent at ward and departmental level therefore a measure of independent judgment will be required from time to time.
This post covers a range of tasks some of which require the exercise of initiative.

Main duties of the job
We are now looking to recruit a Materials Management Assistant.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Supervisor, the post holder will be responsible for providing a range professional supply chain and logistics service for the Ward /Department teams at the East Lancashire Hospital Trust.
Materials Management Assistants will provide support in:
Providing an inventory replenishment service (Inventory management order and top-up)
Maintaining systems data accuracy (Microsoft Excel, auditing, standardisation)
Providing help-desk support (customer service and systems understanding)

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main Duties
To assist in the implementation and maintenance of a materials managed service, undertaking the day to day ordering activity on behalf of the customer. Replenishing goods at theatre and departmental level using bar code systems as appropriate.
Receive, check, and put away deliveries ordered via materials management service. Ensuring that items are rotated and do not exceed expiry dates, stored in the correct location and the store area left tidy.
The position requires physical effort often in confined spaces daily such as the manual handling of roll cages and unpacking of products on to the storeroom shelves.
Ensure discrepancies for returns and credits are processed timely and appropriately.
Carrying out quarterly reviews with appropriate ward/theatre/department leads, using system information to illustrate spending patterns identifying products and stock levels.
Keep all associated paperwork regularly updated in line with code and location changes.
Have a flexible attitude to working hours to meet the needs of the customer.
Provide cover for other Materials Management Assistants as identified by the Supply Chain Supervisor.
Ensure compliance with Trust financial instructions and policies.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Educated to GCSE English/Maths or equivalent level/or relevant experience (Grade 4 or above)
Desirable criteria
* ECDL or relevant experience CIPS level 2 or equivalent
Experience

* Experience of a customer service related department or similar environment
* Experience of working in/with multi-disciplinary teams

* Experience of NHS Supply Chain stock control or purchasing/supply
