Sales Design Engineer – Security Systems
Location: Office Based
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: Competitive (based on experience)
Hours: 40 per week

A respected and growing fire and security company is looking for a Sales Design Engineer to join their technical team in Amersham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical system design with a commercial and customer-focused approach.
The role bridges the gap between sales, design, and operations, helping to create tailored security solutions that meet client needs while remaining commercially viable. You’ll play a key part in preparing proposals, designs, and costings, working closely with both customers and internal teams to ensure every project runs smoothly.
What You’ll Do
You’ll review specifications, drawings, and client requirements, translating them into detailed technical and commercial proposals. You’ll liaise with suppliers to source the right equipment, prepare quotations, and support the sales team in presentations and bids. From time to time, you’ll visit client sites to carry out surveys and ensure designs are accurate and practical. You’ll also collaborate with the engineering and projects teams to make sure installations are delivered as designed.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with experience in technical sales or design engineering within the electronic security industry—someone who can balance commercial awareness with solid technical understanding. You’ll be confident working with IP-based security systems, integration protocols, and modern system design standards. The right person will be organised, proactive, and a strong communicator who enjoys problem-solving and working as part of a close-knit team.
You’ll also need to be proficient with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, Teams, SharePoint) and capable of managing multiple projects at once. A full right to work in the UK and BS7858 security screening will be required.
