About the Role
As a Humanities Teacher, you will inspire pupils across Key Stages 3 to 5 through engaging teaching in subjects such as History, Geography, Politics, and Religious Education. Working with learners who may have a range of SEND needs—including ADHD, ASD and trauma‑related barriers—you will create a supportive, adaptive and trauma‑informed classroom environment where every student can succeed. This role is ideal for a calm, compassionate professional with high expectations and a passion for helping young people grow academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teach Humanities subjects across Key Stages 3–5, ensuring high‑quality curriculum delivery aligned with national standards.
2. Plan creative and engaging lessons, assess pupil progress and maintain accurate records to address any underperformance.
3. Support the pastoral, social, and emotional needs of students, prioritising wellbeing and safeguarding.
4. Adapt teaching to meet diverse cognitive and SEN needs within a trauma‑informed, holistic framework.
5. Contribute to Individual Education Plans and Behaviour Plans, ensuring personalised support for each student.
6. Build strong working relationships with colleagues, parents and carers, attending meetings and ensuring consistent communication.
7. Take part in wider school life, including extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities.
Requirements & Qualifications
8. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Essential teaching qualification.
9. Subject Knowledge: Strong expertise across Humanities subjects.
10. Experience: Proven success teaching from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, with evidence of strong pupil progress.
11. Skills: Effective classroom management, empathy and the ability to create a nurturing, inclusive and safe learning environment.
12. Full UK Driving Licence
