Fabric Technician / Handy Person Location : PO15 Hours: 40 hours per week - shift patterns of 7:00am-3:30pm and 9:30am-6:00pm (30-minute unpaid lunch) Hays is recruiting a Fabric Technician / Handyperson with DBS. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced fabric or carpentry professional who takes pride in high-quality maintenance work and delivering excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be required to hold a basic DBS certificate dated within the last 3 months. This vetting is Required to allow unescorted access on site. The Role As a Fabric Technician, you will be responsible for the effective delivery of both reactive and planned maintenance across the site, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to agreed timescales. Key duties will include: Responding to reactive maintenance tasks and completing them within agreed timescales Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and minor project work Repairing and replacing floor and wall coverings, ceiling tiles, and other building fabric as required Supporting lighting maintenance, including general lamp changes, as well as basic plumbing tasks and filter changes Conducting site surveys and producing reports, method statements and risk assessments for planned works Using a PDA system to receive jobs, update progress and complete all required documentation Liaising with client representatives to ensure clear communication and excellent customer service Ensuring all work is carried out safely and in line with Health & Safety at Work Regulations About You We are looking for a proactive, skilled technician who can work independently and represent Hays and our client professionally on site. You will have: Previous experience in fabric maintenance, carpentry or a related trade City & Guilds or NVQ (or equivalent) in carpentry Experience of painting and decorating and working with fire doors A proven track record of working in high-profile work environments A current UK driving licence Good PC skills and the ability to pick up new systems quickly (including use of PDA technology) Strong communication and customer relationship skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and colleagues The ability to interpret technical drawings, instructions and processes A self-motivated, organised approach with strong attention to detail A good understanding of Health & Safety procedures, including COSHH, Working at Heights and Risk Assessments Hays EA is a trading division of Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited and acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
