The airport is seeking an in-house apprentice mechanic to join its team in maintaining various onsite vehicles. The role offers diverse responsibilities and opportunities to develop your skills in vehicle maintenance and repair.
Are you someone with the personal qualities and attributes aiming to qualify as a Level 3 HGV mechanic? You will work on both old and new motorised large goods vehicles and aviation equipment. Your tasks will include assisting with vehicle preparations, diagnosis, servicing, repairs, basic painting, and focusing on electrics, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
You will also assist in maintaining aviation equipment such as Pushback Tugs, Passenger Coaches, Ground Support Equipment (GSE), and ground maintenance tools like strimmers, blowers, grass cutters, and tractors essential for airport operations.
Key responsibilities
1. Assisting in servicing, fault finding, and repairs of all vehicles and equipment.
2. Maintaining vehicle records.
3. Once competent, covering weekends and evenings on a rota basis; call-out pay applicable when required.
4. Helping with cleaning and inspecting vehicles and equipment.
5. Participating in Winter Snow Clearing and Airfield De-icing operations.
6. Collecting parts, accepting deliveries, and escorting third-party contractors to the site.
7. Assisting with internal and external audits and inspections.
