Technician Fall Protection TestingLocation: Kettering, NorthamptonshireSalary: Up to £26,000 per annumHours: 37.5 hours per week (full-time)The OpportunityAn established and respected testing organisation is seeking a Technician to join its Safety Product Testing team on a full-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity to build a career within a specialist technical environment, working with a wide range of personal protective equipment (PPE).About the TeamThe Safety Product Testing department works with global clients to ensure PPE products meet recognised safety and performance standards.Items tested include:Fall protection equipmentProtective glovesHigh-visibility clothingHelmets and eyewearMotorcycle garmentsHearing protectionSpecialist workwear and sports protectionThe department operates multiple accredited laboratories, equipped with specialist machinery used to assess PPE against UK, European, and international standards. Results are provided to clients to support product development and certification (e.g. CE and UKCA marking).The wider team consists of approximately 25 technical specialists, including technicians and technologists.About the RoleThis role focuses primarily on fall protection equipment testing, including:Harnesses, Lanyards, Energy absorbers, Connectors, Rescue equipmentTesting takes place throughout the year in both indoor and outdoor environments. Some activities may involve working at height (up to approximately 8 metres).Key ResponsibilitiesOperate test equipment and machinery to produce accurate dataRecord and calculate results (both electronically and manually)Prepare samples for testingInterpret and follow relevant testing standards and proceduresMaintain a clean, organised laboratory environmentSupport with sample storage and housekeepingAssist with customer visits and demonstrations when requiredFull training will be provided.About YouEssential RequirementsGCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths and Science (Grade C/4 or above)Strong organisational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and as part of a teamCompetent using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and WordAbility to follow technical procedures accuratelyGood time management with a flexible approach to prioritiesDesirable (Not Essential)Experience working at height or using fall protection equipmentBackground in industrial roofing or similar environmentsForklift truck experienceExposure to working with technical standardsBenefits2530 days annual leave (depending on service)Company pension schemeLife assuranceIncome protectionFree on-site parkingFlexible working hoursImportant DatesApplication deadline: 29 May 2025Interviews: Held on-site (date to be confirmed)Interested?
