12 Month Industrial Placement Scheme
Discipline: Environmental, Health and Safety
Location: Springvale, Northern Ireland
Salary: £26,000, Share Scheme, Pension and 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
We currently have exciting opportunities for industrial placement students to join Caterpillar across several sites. You will work with others across our organisation and be directly involved in, and at the heart of our business, participating on strategic projects.
*Please note that to be eligible to complete a 12 Month Industrial Placement commencing June 2026, you must be in your penultimate year of study unless enrolled in an integrated master’s program.

The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) has 12 Manufacturing Facilities and 5 Engineering Facilities globally. The Springvale Facility, Belfast supplies Axles and Transmissions through the support of Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Engineering, EHS and Operations Teams who align to deliver superior safety, quality, velocity and cost to our business partners.

We also operate a conditional offer process; our highest performing placement students are fast tracked to our graduate development scheme. This includes a financial incentive and the potential of a summer work placement. Offers will be made based on the condition that a graduate role is available at the time of graduation and that you achieve a minimum of 2:2.
Job duties and responsibilities
Job duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to: The EHS Department is an exciting place to be in an organisation and provides an opportunity to see every part of a business. You will be exposed to the inner workings of the Springvale Facility and work with teams that support product production. If you are passionate about people and the environment, believe everyone should go home safely, and want to make a difference, this is the role for you. This opportunity will develop your technical, communication and leadership skills and provide insight into the EHS function.
Policy and Objective
* Supporting the EHS Team in developing policies that are easy to adopt by our workforce.
Risk Management
* Supporting EHS improvements projects with cross functional involvement.
* Building capability within our workforce by developing and delivering training.
* Supporting event investigations.
Engagement and Communications
* Creating psychologically safe environments to encourage communication and improve performance.
* Communicating key messages in an innovative way to engage our workforce.
* Leading forums and gaining feedback to improve the EHS Function.
Assurance
* Supporting assurance activity and understanding compliance.
* Supporting trend analysis, use of Power BI and legal compliance tracking.
* Engaging with local authorities and building relationships with interested parties.
In addition to EHS, there will be opportunities to work with other departments to understand each function and contribute to their output.

Recruitment Process Guidelines
Here is a brief overview of what you can expect when applying to our Early Career roles...
Online Application: The first stage of the process is to complete the online application and attach your CV. This must be done before the closing date. We will review applications after the close date and contact you if you progress to the next stage.
Stage one - Video Interview: If selected, you will be invited to complete a video interview, reviewed by the Hiring Team. If successful, you will be invited to an Assessment Centre on Thursday 22nd January onsite at our Springvale facility; please keep the date free. Check spam and Workday updates.
Stage two - Assessment Centre: Day will assess teamwork, decision-making, communication, and problem-solving. We aim to make these days fun, inclusive and relaxed.
Stage three - Offer: After the Assessment Centre, offers are made to preferred candidates. Placements start on 29th June 2026.
NOTE: Only one application is required; you may be considered for other roles/locations later. The panel cannot assume shortlisting qualifications; please demonstrate relevant experience on your CV.
