The post supports the strategic development and delivery of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, education, training, service evaluation, and research at the National Imaging Academy Wales (NIAW). The role will focus on driving innovation, supporting translational research, and enabling the safe and effective adoption of AI within radiology services across Wales.

This is a one-year fixed‑term appointment, with the possibility of extension for a further year.

The Academy offers outstanding facilities, including a 100‑seat lecture theatre, three workstation‑based teaching suites, simulation facilities, dedicated AI and digital infrastructure, and state‑of‑the‑art audio‑visual systems to support high‑quality education, research, and collaborative development.

* Lead and contribute to research programmes involving artificial intelligence, machine learning, and large language models, including clinical validation, real‑world evaluation, and impact assessment of AI tools
* Foster collaborations with Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), industry partners, and the third sector to support high‑quality, ethically approved AI research and innovation
* Support the development of grant applications, research funding bids, and business cases related to AI and digital health innovation
* Ensure AI research activity aligns with NHS Wales priorities, regulatory requirements, and robust data governance, information security, and ethical standards
* Promote dissemination of research outputs through peer‑reviewed publications, presentations, and knowledge‑sharing activities, supporting a culture of innovation and evidence‑based adoption of AI
