An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the Specialist Service Teams as Administrative Team Lead, based at Benfield House on the Walkergate Park Hospital site in Newcastle. The post holder will supervise staff in the Mental Health and Deafness Service and Adult Eating Disorders Service, but will primarily supervise and work into the Northern Region Gender Dysphoria Team.
Responsibilities
The following core skills and experience are essential to the post:
- Provide day‑to‑day supervisory responsibility for a growing admin team comprising 4 Band 3 Admin Officers and 3 Band 2 Admin Assistants across multiple services.
- Handle all staffing issues including recruitment, appraisal, training, performance and quality management, supervision and support.
- Work closely with the Gender Dysphoria Service Pathway Coordinator and Medical Assistants to ensure an efficient and streamlined service is provided to a dedicated client base.
- Report directly to the Administration Manager and collaborate with clinical staff on a day‑to‑day basis.
- Undertake additional duties such as ordering supplies, requesting repairs and updating rotas and duty sheets.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
- General level of education to O‑Level /GCSE or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 3 Supervisory /Management qualification or equivalent.
- Word/text processing skills with an OCR/RSA Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) plus relevant experience.
- NVQ Level 3 in Customer Care or Business Administration or equivalent.
Knowledge and Experience
- Knowledge of Trust Policies and Procedures.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications and Patient Information Systems.
- Good working knowledge of office procedures.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety policies relating to role.
- Knowledge of Financial Procedures relating to delegated finance duties.
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills.
Employment Details
Grade: Administrative Band 4 – Contract Permanent. Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week (8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday). Salary: £28,392 – £31,157 per annum. Closing date: 25 June 2026.
