About the Role
Reception Manager at a GP practice in Tonge Fold, Bolton. Oversees reception team, ensuring smooth daily operations, creates positive patient experience, and acts as a link between reception, clinicians, and management.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor the reception team to deliver excellent service.
* Manage daily reception tasks including rotas, workload allocation, and troubleshooting.
* Oversee administrative tasks, workflow, and PCSE processes related to patient notes and supplies.
* Use Bright HR for staff holidays and absences; manage doctor/clinician holidays, new starters, and GP trainee schedules.
* Support training, development, and mentoring of staff.
* Collaborate with the Practice Manager and clinical team to improve processes and patient access.
* Ensure confidentiality, data protection, and practice protocol adherence.
* Order medical and practice supplies, including vaccines.
* Troubleshoot IT issues, Surgery Connect, and ARC.
* Handle patient queries, complaints, and escalations professionally.
* Assist in recalls for QOF, BCCor, and local enhanced services.
* Use EMIS and other IT systems efficiently for administrative and clinical tasks.
* Maintain a welcoming and efficient reception environment.
* On‑site parking.
Qualifications
* Previous experience working in a GP practice reception or front desk role.
* Strong leadership and people‑management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficient in EMIS, Docman, Iplato, and Accurx.
* Experience managing prescriptions and trackers.
* Knowledge of CQRS (national and local), diabetes screening programmes, IGPR, and patient online services.
* Experience in a supervisory or senior receptionist role.
* Exceptional organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
* Professional, approachable, and patient‑focused.
* Experience managing or training staff.
* Understanding of NHS processes and patient confidentiality requirements.
