The Role: A fantastic opportunity for a Team Leader at our Smithies Household Waste Recycle Centre, responsible for the safe and efficient daily site operations. This is a hands-on role requiring teamwork, workload management, public interaction, and supervision skills. Additional training may include mobile plant operation.
Main duties and responsibilities include:
1. Ensure safe working practices and compliance with health and safety legislation.
2. Issue and enforce the use of personal protective equipment.
3. Supervise daily operations according to site license and company policies.
4. Manage staff attendance and resource allocation to meet targets.
5. Induct and train new staff, temporary workers, and visitors.
6. Ensure staff complete tasks to contractual and company standards.
7. Maintain communication with management and respond to operational needs.
8. Complete and file daily paperwork accurately.
9. Conduct safety and maintenance checks on mobile plant and vehicles.
10. Provide cover for staff during absences as needed.
11. Perform other reasonable duties as required.
Key skills/experience:
* Good organizational skills and basic administrative experience.
* Experience managing a team and effective communication of work instructions.
* Experience in the waste recycling industry is advantageous but not essential.
* Excellent communication skills for customer-facing interactions.
