Overview
Staff Nurse, Band 5 Older Person Mental Health, Inpatient.
Responsibilities
* Join the Older Persons Mental Health Service Line in the inpatient unit (Cragside ward) and contribute to admission, assessment, treatment and discharge planning for patients who have an Organic illness and are over 65.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team with the assessment of care needs, risk assessment, formulation and implementation of care plans meaningful to our patients.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills and engage with patients and the ward environment.
* Be flexible to meet the needs of the service and work across all shift patterns including night shifts.
About the service
The unit is situated in the grounds of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead, and comprises two wards – Cragside and Sunniside. The team is participating in the NHS England Culture of Care Program. The North East location provides hospital and community health services from The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Blaydon Urgent Care Centre and Bensham Hospital, all within Gateshead. The organisation was established in 2005 and employs around 4,800 staff with 444 hospital beds across the Gateshead region.
Requirements / Qualifications
* We are looking for caring, empathetic, enthusiastic and motivated individuals who have a desire to improve the lives of Older People experiencing Mental Health Problems.
* Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team; engage in assessment of care needs, risk assessment, formulation and implementation of care plans.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; motivated to engage within the patient group and ward environment.
* Flexibility to meet the needs of the service and willingness to work across shifts, including nights.
