Overview
Senior Clerical Officer - Gastroenterology. Permanent, full time (37.5 hours per week). Role to encompass 7 day service.
Location: Royal Hospital, Liverpool. Department: LUH - 1 General Staffing (AFC posts). Salary: £24,937 - £26,598 per annum. Closing: 17/10/2025 23:59.
Main duties
* Lead responsibility for dealing with referrals for outpatient and day-case appointments and endoscopic procedures (diagnostic and advanced therapeutic) to ensure a high quality service and smooth department operation.
* Book referrals and information; monitor waiting lists and waiting times; register new patients on IPM/PAS; ensure appropriate lists based on the level of skill of the Endoscopist.
* Work unsupervised but be available to advise junior team members; rotate through lead booking areas and manage the outpatient pre-invest system.
* Coordinate with health professionals, wards, A&E and GP surgeries as required; liaise with anti-coagulant nurse and/or dietician where appropriate.
* Provide administrative support to the specialist nurse team with pre-investigation processes and the E-referral service.
* Ensure appointment letters and information leaflets are sent, and that outcomes are recorded on IPM PAS in line with Trust policies.

Skills
* Ability to work unsupervised and assist junior staff with problems; assess, prioritise and plan workload; good communication skills; mentoring of junior administration staff.
Other
* Flexibility to rotate between three main booking areas; team player; experience in direct contact with patients, carers, the public and health professionals.
Qualifications
* NVQ 3 or equivalent.
Experience
* Experience of direct contact/liaison with patients, carers, the public and health professionals.
Knowledge
* Working knowledge of a Hospital Administration system and computer systems, preferably IPM/PAS and ICE.
