Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to work as an Analyst within the Maritime Data Assessment Centre (MDAC), which is part of the Defence Intelligence organisation, supporting key MOD operational outputs. This role is suited for an individual with experience of intelligence and acoustics analysis; however, if you enjoy working as part of a team and problem solving then this could be a role for you. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week during training and then as rostered.

The job is part of a dynamic team providing a 24/7/365 operational assessment capability to a select customer base within the UK and overseas. As a data assessment analyst, you'll be within the team responsible for identifying acoustic data elements from a broad selection of sources. You'll be part of the shift-working cadre that delivers critical output in the form of signal messages, situational briefings, and timely reporting through an established organisation of experts, that feeds into the Defence Intelligence picture.
Responsibilities
* Integrate into the MDAC organisation and fulfil the role of on-shift assessment analyst.
* Process maritime data from various sources and conduct routine assessments for acoustic elements.
* Maintain a daily log of assessments.
* Create messages and reporting, including during silent hours.
* Provide verbal briefings and assurance to generated assessments.
* Commit to self-development of assessment ability.
* Contribute towards organisational level learning and development.
* Occasional 'acting up' to cover absence or leave within the team.
* Complete the publication of desk level reports to leadership.
* Undergo line manager taskings commensurate with the role and grade.

Qualifications and Skills
* Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines.

* Excellent IT skills, including the use of Outlook, Word and spreadsheets.
* Prior experience of intelligence or acoustic analysis (desirable).
Eligibility and Sponsorship
As a result of changes to UK immigration rules, the Ministry of Defence will only offer sponsorship for a skilled worker visa under the points-based system where a role is business critical. This role does not meet that category and we will not sponsor a visa. It is therefore NOT open to applications from those who require sponsorship under the points-based system.

Notes
The post does not offer relocation expenses. External recruits who join the MOD who are new to the Civil Service will be subject to a 12-month probation period. This post is a Reserved position therefore open to UK nationals only. Successful candidates who do not hold the necessary clearances will be provisional offers and must undergo vetting.
