Tobermore are now recruiting for an Apprentice Maintenance Fitter at our Lough Fea Quarry!

Tobermore is a Northern Ireland based paving & walling manufacturer, that sells world class products to homeowners, merchants and construction professionals. We are seeking quality apprentices that are “mechanically minded” to join our team at Lough Fea Quarry, just outside Cookstown.
You will gain real life experience and understanding of our production process and its technical elements. You will have day release to attend college and you will receive a 3rd level qualification.
Successful apprentices will work within Tobermore’s Maintenance Team and the wider Lough Fea Team and will have designated mentors throughout their training.

* Annual bonus scheme
Shift details:
* Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm (40 hours p/week)
* You will be contracted 40 hours per week which will include your time release to college.

About The Role
What Year 1 & 2 will look like:
You can expect to get real life, hands on experience and learn as you go. You will be supported and mentored through job shadowing and work participation. You will gain experience in all aspects of our production process at our quarry. When you start with us Day 1 will involve your initial Health and Safety and HR training. Throughout the year – you will complete various online Training through our Litmos e-learning system.
In Year 1-2 you will rotate in the areas listed below:
Lough Fea Quarry
Static processing plant to refine raw aggregate quarried from surrounding land holdings. Primary and secondary crushing machines plus modern washing and screening machinery. All finished products are used for above manufacturing plants in Tobermore head site.
Mobile machinery
We have a vast array of machinery from loading shovels to the dumpers.
Mobile Quarry Plant
We have various screens used for sand production that you will learn how to maintain. These machines are typical in all quarries.
Static quarry Plant
We are a working quarry which extracts material from the ground and crushes to sand. There are many machines involved in this process from crushing to screening to stockpiling.
Throughout your Apprenticeship – we will train you to complete the following tasks as part of the role:
• Welding & fabrication
• Cutting/burning
• Hydraulic and pneumatics
• Planned maintenance inspections
• Planned maintenance schedules
• Removing and replacing machinery parts
• Using various power tools to complete tasks

Desired Criteria
* Demonstrate practical hands on approach
* Working Towards obtaining Provisional/ driving license
Required Criteria
* You will need to have applied / or been accepted to your chosen college to study a relevant Engineering course
* 6 GSCE'S grade C or above (or expect to have by August 2025 - please note, we will also consider applications that don't have the full 6 GCSE's)
* Interest in Mechanical Manufacturing
* Good Communication Skills
* Problem Solving Skills
* Self Motivated
