The Pain Management Service at The Royal Marsden Hospital is expanding, and we are delighted to offer an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated nurse to join our specialist team.As a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a pivotal role within our multidisciplinary team, providing expert assessment, management, and co-ordination of care for patients across both our Chelsea (London) and Sutton (Surrey) sites. You will support the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.This role offers the chance to combine advanced clinical practice with leadership. Alongside delivering high-quality patient care, you will contribute to the professional development of colleagues through formal and informal education. You will also be actively involved in driving service improvements, leading on audits, research, and initiatives that enhance the quality of care we provide for our patients.The successful applicant will be primarily based at their preferred site; however, flexibility to work across both locations in accordance with service requirements will be expected.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in Pain Management plays a pivotal role in delivering and enhancing specialist pain management services across The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, supporting both inpatient and outpatient care at the Chelsea and Sutton sites. This advanced clinical role focuses on the assessment and management of acute, chronic, and complex pain in patients with cancer, including those referred to specialist clinics such as chemotherapy-induced peripheralneuropathy, neuromodulation, and capsaicin services. As an expert practitioner, the CNS will provide direct patient care while also leading service development initiatives, promoting excellence in cancerpain management through clinical leadership, innovation, education, and research.

* Degree level study (or equivalent)
* Teaching, assessing and mentoring qualification.
* Evidence of degree level studies in specific pain related subjects/ qualification in oncology.


Desirable

* Advanced physical assessment course/ Independent nurse prescriber.
* Relevant MSc level of learning or working towards/ Evidence of research in pain management/Publications.

* A minimum of 3 years' experience at Band 6 or above in one or more of the following specialties: pain management, palliative care, oncology, critical care, or recovery within an oncology setting.
* Able to conduct reflective practice and participate in clinical supervision
* To be confident and competent in using the required skills to do the job.
* Ability / experience of developing skills of others through a range of teaching / training methods.
* Ability to lead and influence change.
