Laboratory Technician – Full-Time
Location: Baker Street, London
Salary: Depending on experience
Hours: 40 hours per week (including weekends)
Contract: 12-Month Fixed Term (3-Month Probation), renewable annually. Role may become permanent after 2 years of continuous service.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Technician to support our busy diagnostics team. You will be responsible for:
* Performing blood tests, drug screening, and infectious disease testing
* Biochemistry and haematology analysis
* Carrying out administrative tasks such as data entry, reporting, and filing
* Sock control and record-keeping to ensure supplies are available and organised
* Maintaining lab equipment, quality control, and assisting with daily operations
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong technical ability and a proactive, team-oriented attitude.
Requirements
* BSc or MSc in Biomedical Science
* Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in a medical or pathology laboratory
* Competence using haematology, biochemistry analysers, PCR, immunochemistry systems, and microscopes
* Excellent attention to detail and strong communication skills
* Weekend availability is required (this role includes regular weekend shifts)
* Applicants must be based in the UK – overseas applications will not be considered
Key Responsibilities
* Perform routine testing of blood, drug, and infection samples
* Maintain and troubleshoot analysers, following SOPs and health & safety guidelines
* Monitor internal and external quality control, taking corrective action where necessary
* Keep accurate records of test results, reagents, and supply levels
* Input data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
* Communicate critical or abnormal results promptly to clinical staff
* Provide general administrative support as needed
