Software Development Manager III, Amazon Digital Acceleration
The Digital Acceleration org owns the e-commerce foundation for digital content, subscriptions and bundles on Amazon. The shared services org within Digital Acceleration will own tier one services which manage the storage layer as well as privacy and tooling initiatives for Digital Acceleration. The teams in this charter maintain highly scalable, low latency, highly available, cost-effective persistence, eventing and data replication solutions to meet the requirements of the Digital and Subscription businesses at Amazon.
Key job responsibilities
1. Lead your team to build a brand new product with quality, robustness and Amazon-sized scale as top priorities.
2. Prioritize being a really great people manager. Building, motivating, rewarding and coaching a diverse team of Software Development Engineers is the most important part of this role. You will recruit and retain top talent and excel in day-to-day people and performance management tasks.
3. Contribute to architecture and design discussions for full stack software.
4. Lead your team to evolve our service architecture with quality, robustness and Amazon-sized scale as top priorities. You will regularly take part in deep-dive troubleshooting exercises and drive technical post-mortem discussions to identify the root cause of complex issues.
5. Set a vision for your team and create product roadmaps.
6. Help your team sort out technical and product requirements and priorities. Deliver product roadmap items and cross-team projects.
7. Delight your customers. Internalize our customer challenges and derive creative solutions which apply new and innovative technology.

Amazon Digital Acceleration powers ordering, subscriptions, and device management for Prime, Amazon Video, Music, Audible, Alexa, and Kindle, amongst other digital businesses. We process billions of digital purchases every year and enable our digital businesses to grow their businesses worldwide. We are on a mission to be earth's best provider of one-time and recurring digital commerce, delivering a seamless and enjoyable post-purchase customer experience.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
1. 7+ years of engineering experience
2. 3+ years of engineering team management experience
3. 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
4. Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
5. Experience partnering with product or program management teams
6. Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
2. Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
