About the role
The purpose of this role is to support the pastoral care of pupils, reporting directly to the Senior Pastoral Manager and working under the guidance of the Knights Leadership Team (KLT). This is an exciting opportunity to play a key part in nurturing pupils' emotional and social development, helping to ensure that they feel happy, safe, and supported throughout their school journey.
As a Pastoral Manager, you will be instrumental in promoting positive relationships within the school community, working closely with pupils, parents, and staff. Your role will be central to embedding the school’s values, fostering a caring and inclusive environment, and encouraging high standards of behaviour and achievement.
In addition to supporting pupils' well-being, you will assist in ensuring that school policies on behaviour and learning are adhered to, while working collaboratively with others to maintain a safe and respectful school environment. You will also help monitor pupils’ progress and well-being by
maintaining accurate records using systems such as CPOMS and the school’s MIS system, ensuring data is processed promptly and accurately.
Regular reports will be required for the Senior Leadership Team, teachers, and heads of department, keeping all stakeholders informed about pupils’ pastoral development.The role is offered on 35 hours per week term time only. Office hours are 08:00 – 16:00, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
The Pastoral Manager will:
* Work within and actively promote, not least by one’s professional behaviour, school policies and procedures.
* Show respect for all members of the school community.
* Liaise regularly with the HOY, Safeguarding Manager and KLT regarding pupil welfare, attendance and matters of behaviour ensuring that detailed evidence of actions and interventions for pupils are kept.
* Act as a contact for parents regarding pastoral matters to key students.
* Pass on the content of the communication to the appropriate people and respond accordingly ensuring prompt feedback to parents/carers.
* Apply the Academy’s attendance policy, ensuring regular attendance at school to reduce unauthorised attendance and improve punctuality through daily parental calls/communication.
* Utilise all data to monitor key pupils and intervene as necessary recommending rewards, sanctions and pastoral interventions as necessary and working with Heads of Years and outside agencies as appropriate.
* To complete effective mentoring/Well-being support sessions with assigned pupils.
* To oversee the pastoral care and behaviour management of pupils across the school and support departments in carrying out and promoting the behaviour policy.
* To assist with whole school behaviour by assisting with on-calls and ASPIRE room supervision.
* Initiate, organise and assist (as appropriate) with all school event/matters (e.g. parent/carer consultation evenings, parents in partnership events, pupil voice, assembly programmes, pupil mentoring, etc.).
* Ensure that form tutors, Heads of Year and other staff as appropriate are kept fully informed about all matters pertaining to the pupils in their care.
* Attend meeting relevant to the job purpose.
* To assist in escorting pupils on educational visits and to participate in extracurricular activities as required.
* Forward reports to inclusion panel on pupils and monitor the effect of interventions.
* Work cooperatively with other members of the Pastoral Team covering and actively supporting each other as and when necessary.
* Seek to involve parents/carers in the educational life of their child/children.
* Meet obligations with respect to the school’s system of performance management.
* Be committed to one’s own professional improvement.
* Such other duties/responsibilities as may from time to time be reasonably required.
* Any other duties commensurate within the grade in order to ensure the smooth running of the academy

* Keep up to date with developments in your area of responsibility
* Take responsibility for your own professional development in discussion with your line manager.
* Ensure the consistent implementation of school and Trust policies and procedures throughout the subject areas.
* Work collaboratively with the other academies and colleagues within the Trust.
General Responsibilities
* To provide accurate information for parents as directed by academy and department policy. and to attend parents’ evenings and other presentation meetings as directed.
* To work within the academy framework with regard to Health and Safety.
* To complete First Aid training and act as a First Aider within the school..
