Operations Manager – Professional Services / Consultancy I’m currently partnering with a well-established consultancy that’s looking to appoint an Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in how the business runs day to day and how it scales. This is a broad, influential role sitting at the heart of the practice, supporting technical teams to deliver high-quality consultancy services while ensuring operations remain compliant, efficient, and commercially sound. The role spans four key pillars: Marketing Operations (Professional Services) • Overseeing bids, proposals, capability statements, and thought-leadership content • Ensuring brand, messaging, and technical quality across all client-facing material • Coordinating with technical leads on case studies, CPD content, and project data • Managing external marketing and bid-writing consultants • Tracking bid success rates, pipeline activity, and brand visibility Human Resources (Consultancy Environment) • Managing end-to-end HR operations including recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and professional development • Workforce planning aligned to project pipelines and fee forecasts • Overseeing competency frameworks, training plans, and CPD compliance • Ensuring HR policies align with employment legislation and best practice • Supporting employee engagement, wellbeing, and retention in a high-performing consultancy culture Facilities and Office Management • Overseeing day-to-day office operations to ensure a safe, professional, and productive working environment • Managing leases, suppliers, IT coordination, and facilities services • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, and workplace regulations • Supporting hybrid working arrangements and space planning Quality Assurance and Compliance • Developing, implementing, and maintaining the Quality Management System (ISO 9001 or equivalent) • Ensuring compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and client QA expectations • Coordinating internal audits, management reviews, and corrective actions • Supporting project teams with QA processes including document control, peer review, and continuous improvement • Monitoring and managing operational risk and professional compliance obligations What they’re looking for: • Proven experience in an operations management role within a professional services or consultancy environment • Strong understanding of marketing and bid processes in a technical or construction-related sector • Solid HR operational knowledge, ideally supporting professional or technical staff • Experience managing quality assurance systems and compliance frameworks • Excellent organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills • Ability to balance commercial awareness with operational rigour Desirable: • Experience within building services engineering, construction consultancy, or the built environment sector • Familiarity with ISO standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 • Relevant qualification in business management, operations, HR, or a related discipline
