Job Description: Job Title: Laboratory Technician Location: Marchwood - Southampton Company: Cawood Job Description: We are seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will undertake the extraction of a variety of customer samples (environmental/food) for analysis within our analytical laboratory. Carryout the preparation and extraction of a variety of customer samples (environmental/food) ready for analysis or undertake routine analytical techniques. Ensure that all work carried out complies with documented procedures and samples are handled correctly. Perform and monitor QC checks. Accurately record data. Work to UKAS standards (ISO 17025 and MCERTS) to ensure that the agreed quality standards and requirements e.g. calibrations, AQC charts etc. are continually adhered to. Perform routine equipment calibration and maintenance. Prepare standards and solutions. Monitor lab consumables. Effectively communicate with co-workers and laboratory management team. Ad hoc duties as required. In conjunction with supervisor prioritise and manage workload. Maintain a high standard of personal knowledge and skills relevant to role through company led and self-directed learning. Undertake the tasks given in a professional and responsible manner. Be punctual and at your workspace ready to start work at the start time of each shift. Support your team and be willing to help out when asked. Follow company procedure. Be willing to do overtime when requested. Qualifications & Experience: Minimum GCSE English and Maths preferably grade C or above. Attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Previous experience of working in an analytical laboratory and knowledge of ISO 17025 and MCERTS standards although preferred is not essential.
