Behaviour Mentor
We are seeking a resilient and empathetic Behaviour Mentor to join our team on a part-time basis. You will work closely with students who may display challenging behaviour, providing one-to-one and small group support to help them:
1. Re-engage with learning
2. Develop positive behaviour strategies
3. Achieve academic and personal goals
This is a highly rewarding role for someone who can stay calm under pressure, build trust quickly, and adapt to meet the individual needs of each student.
Key Responsibilities
4. Support students with their academic learning across a range of subjects
5. Model and promote positive behaviour, resilience, and respect
6. Implement strategies to help students manage their emotions and behaviour
7. Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies
8. Maintain accurate records of progress and incidents
9. Provide pastoral care and mentoring to help students overcome barriers to learning
Person Specification
Essential:
10. Experience working with young people, ideally in a PRU, SEN, or alternative education setting
11. Strong communication skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations
12. Resilience, patience, and empathy
13. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
14. Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
Desirable:
15. Relevant qualifications in education, youth work, or behaviour support
16. Understanding of SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs
