Overview
Locum Consultant Haematologist General haematology & haemato-oncology. The Department of Clinical Haematology is based on four sites (Royal London, St Bartholomew’s, Whipps Cross and Newham Hospitals) and functions as one department. The medical team includes consultants, trainees, middle grade and academic haematology fellows. The Trust holds a substantial NIHR-funded research portfolio for non-malignant haematology research in the UK. The Pathology Partnership across Barts Health NHS Trust, Homerton University NHSFT and Lewisham & Greenwich NHS Trust processes more than 100,000 tests a day. The newly formed East and South East London NHS Pathology Partnership aims to improve service quality, speed of clinician response, and achieve operational and economic efficiencies.

Responsibilities
* General Duties
* To be an active member of the department and help deliver the departmental mission of excellence in clinical care and teaching.
* Continuing responsibility for providing a specialist service for the patients referred into the department in line with Trust and NHS targets, including performing all administrative duties associated with patient care.
* Liaison and communication with the Clinical Director, the Lead Clinician, and the Service Manager
* Clinical duties
* Outpatient clinics, for patients cared for in the general haematology service based at Whipps Cross Hospital.
* Chemotherapy clinics.
* To provide evidence-based care for all out-patients and to accept personal responsibility for the total clinical care of the patients referred to him/her.
* To help provide triaging/vetting of general haematology referrals and advice and guidance to local GPs
* To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with General Practitioners, community services, and all healthcare agencies.
* To collaborate positively with colleagues to provide effective clinical leadership for all the staff in the service.
* To maintain up to date knowledge of scientific, clinical, and technical developments in haematology.
