Second Step is a leading mental health charity in the South West offering support and hope to thousands of people experiencing mental health challenges. Working hand-in-hand with the NHS and local authorities, we offer practical help and emotional support tailored to each individual and their recovery. Our goal is to inspire hope and change for everybody we work with. We are expanding our team of Bank Workers to support our mental health services in North Somerset. In particular, the Safe Haven Crisis & Recovery Centre in Weston-Super-Mare. Safe Haven provides a safe, welcoming, comfortable place for people in immediate acute emotional distress and for those seeking to prevent the onset of a crisis in North Somerset. The key priority for the service is to work with individuals to create plans and strategies for managing their mental health and wellbeing and preventing future crisis. The service is focused on supporting episodes of emotional distress and is not designed to be an ongoing support intervention. The service can offer advice around managing suicidal ideation, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, low mood, social isolation, and sleep hygiene. It provides guidance, support and signposting for issues that are causing stress such as housing, debt, health problems, substance misuse and unemployment. We believe in a person-centred approach and the power of promoting hope and independence. You can read more about the service here: Safe Haven Crisis & Recovery Centre The service is primarily staffed by permanent staff – but we are keen to expand our pool of Bank Workers who can support the delivery of this service.
