Are you a passionate and experienced Occupational Therapy Assistant, an Occupational Therapy Support Worker or have a similar work background and ready to progress your career?

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Senior Occupational Therapy Assistant to join the Community OT Team based in the Integrated Discharge Hub, UHW.

This is a new and exciting post which has been designed to bridge the gap between the Occupational Therapy Assistant and the qualified OT.


About the job

Working within the Trusted Assessor model of practice the successful applicant will undertake end to end assessments, creating interim care plans for discharge and reviewing and right-sizing care packages in the community under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist.

Additional responsibilities of the post holder may include supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants, Contact Officers and Higher Clerical Assistants (where appropriate), providing mentoring for the on-boarding of new starters and contributing to the delivery of educational workshops.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a suitably qualified applicant to further their career in occupational therapy and be integral to the development of this role.

What We Are Looking For From You

The successful applicant must have a minimum of one year experience working as an OTA, OT Support Worker or have a minimum of one year experience in a similar work background, this must be current or within the last three years.

The successful candidate will have experience of working proactively with clients with physical disabilities and/or older people, preferably in a community or caring/rehabilitation environment, and be able to work autonomously, as well as part of a team.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisation skills, and the ability to problem solve and provide outcome focused interventions. The successful candidate must be able to work to strict deadlines, be extremely flexible and have a keen interest in service development.

This post is temporary until 31st March 2027.
