Overview
An ambitious and forward-thinking Local Authority in Hampshire is looking for an experienced Principal Policy Planner to join their team on a fixed-term contract through to March 2026.
Contract: Fixed Term – Until at least 31st March 2026
Start Date: ASAP
This role is available immediately, offering a chance to make a meaningful impact from day one. Flexible and hybrid working arrangements are available.
Responsibilities
* Lead and contribute to the preparation and delivery of the Local Plan
* Provide expert policy advice to internal teams, councillors, and external stakeholders
* Input into regeneration schemes and town centre strategies
* Support evidence base development and policy monitoring
* Represent the council at public consultations, hearings and external meetings
About You / Qualifications
* Proven experience in planning policy, ideally within a local authority setting
* Strong understanding of the UK planning system and local plan process
* Exposure to or experience with regeneration projects
* Ability to manage competing priorities and lead on complex policy matters
* RTPI accredited or working towards accreditation
