CNC Miller Setter/Operator – Skilled & Experienced

Job Type: Full-Time, Monday–Friday (7:00 am–4:00 pm / 8:00 am–5:00 pm)
Salary: £42,000 per annum (DOE)

Our client is a well-established, family-run precision engineering business based in Aylesbury, specialising in CNC machining, CAD/CAM design, and surface finishing. Offering a complete in-house “one-stop shop” service, they support clients across the UK within the automotive, aerospace, and industrial sectors, delivering high-quality, precision components with a strong focus on reliability and efficiency.
Following recent investment and expansion, the business has significantly increased its production capacity, introducing new CNC machinery and advanced production software to enhance workflow and output. Alongside their core engineering work, they also manufacture specialist components for the fishing and tackle sector, supplying products used within the carp fishing market.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate CNC milling machines (3, 4, or 5-axis)
* Interpret technical drawings and CAD/CAM data
* Select and fit appropriate tooling, materials, and fixtures
* Perform in-process quality checks and adjust programs as needed
* Maintain machinery and ensure optimal performance
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve processes
About You
Essential
* Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on CNC milling experience
* Proficient in setting and operating
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Comfortable working to tight tolerances in low- or medium-batch production
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Positive attitude and a team-player mentality
* Looking for a reliable individual interested in long-term progression and stability
* Flexibility to work overtime when needed to complete jobs, with enhanced overtime rates (time and a half)
* Fluent in English, with strong verbal communication and listening skills
Desirable
* Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Edgecam)
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methods
* Previous experience in precision engineering sectors
