About The Housing Finance Corporation (THFC)
At The Housing Finance Corporation (THFC), we exist to enable the delivery of more affordable, high-quality homes across the UK by providing long-term, cost-effective funding to housing associations. With over 150 customers and £8bn in loans under management, we are proud to be a key part of the social housing sector’s financial foundation.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a talented, commercially minded Relationship Manager to join our expert team. You’ll act as the principal contact for a portfolio of customers; trusted housing providers who are making a difference in communities every day. From nurturing those long-term partnerships to identifying new business opportunities and analysing credit risk, this role offers a unique blend of relationship management, analytical rigour, and sector insight.
A key aspect of this role involves close collaboration with the credit team, leading the production of credit appraisals for underwriting purposes and identifying market trends and emerging risks within the portfolio and the broader housing association (HA) sector. Sound judgment and effective workload prioritisation are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of Housing Association customers and be the lead contact for those relationships.
* Build trusted relationships with a portfolio of housing association borrowers, offering tailored, insightful support.
* Collaborate with credit, treasury, and legal colleagues to deliver new lending solutions from initial engagement to drawdown
* Monitor market trends, customer performance, and emerging risks—bringing a sharp eye for credit and commercial opportunity.
* Represent THFC externally at customer meetings, sector conferences, and industry events—always championing our purpose and expertise.
* Preparation and presentation of requests for consent to mergers, changes to key loan covenants which should include an appropriate analysis of risks and negotiation of relevant fees.
* Review compliance with covenants, obtain information in a timely manner and ensure it is recorded correctly.
* Respond to customer queries across a wide range of topics and where necessary, deal with requests for letters of consent / certificated of non-crystallisation
* Respond to customer consultations arising from evolving issues in the sector.
* Oversee preparation of compliance information such as Anti-Money Laundering Know Your Customer.
* Support the Head of Relationship Management and Senior Director of Lending in building a strong, customer-focused culture.
What we are looking for:
* Strong relationship management or client-facing experience—ideally with a financial institution or advisory firm.
* Experience in the housing association or social housing sector would be a significant asset, though extensive experience is not essential
* Commercial awareness and credit acumen, with the ability to assess risk and spot opportunity.
* Excellent communication and influencing skills; credible with senior stakeholders and confident under pressure.
* Comfortable with technical financial information and collaborative cross-team delivery.
What we offer:
* This is a great opportunity for someone looking to deepen their expertise in a purpose-driven, mission-led environment.
* We’re a small, supportive team where every individual makes a difference. If you’re motivated by meaningful work, long-term thinking, and building trusted partnerships.
* Competitive salary and benefits package.
