The post holder will be expected to provide Locally Employed Doctor (LED) grade cover on a rotational shift basis throughout Urology. They will have to participate in the on-call LED rota and will be expected to supervise the FY1s in service delivery, inpatients, and day services. The post holder will provide a rapid response to A&E to facilitate the 4 hour trolley-wait target and during the on call shift, will be available solely for emergency duties.
Main duties of the job
* Provide LED cover on a rotational shift basis throughout general surgery.
* Supervise the FY1s in service delivery, in outpatients, inpatients, and day services.
* Provide a rapid response to A&E to facilitate the 4 hour trolley-wait target - during the on call shift will be available solely for emergency duties.
* Undertake outpatient clinics and operating theatre lists as directed by the consultants.
* Participate in the Clinical Governance and Risk Assessment process.
* Offer a commitment to both postgraduate and undergraduate General Surgery training within the hospital.
* Work with the multidisciplinary team.
* Take part in the care of patients attending the department, including examination, investigation, diagnosis and treatment.

Experience
* oPrevious experience working in a General Surgery setting
* oALS Certified and up to date
* oUnderstand the structure and functional principles of the NHS

* oATLS
Qualifications/ Training
* MBBS or equivalent/MRCS
* oHolds full UK GMC registration and license to practice
* oWorking towards a post- graduate qualification

* oMRCS part 1
