The post holder will assist the cardiac diagnostic and echocardiography service at PRUH and help co‑ordinate pathways and IP flow liaising closely with the Principal Head of Dept. and Principal Echocardiographer. This will involve helping to schedule both inpatient and outpatient studies to ensure that available capacity is utilised as efficiently as possible. The post holder will be responsible for all incoming queries for cardiac diagnostics and will be the point of communication between administration staff, clinical, nursing and healthcare scientists and act as the main point of contact between the department and internal /external specialities, regarding requests for studies, timing of studies and communication of results.
Main duties of the job
* Serve as the point of contact for telephone queries for all non‑invasive cardiac diagnostics (except CRM follow‑up clinics) from GPs, wards, A&E.
* Coordinate with the front desk on any queries.
* Reschedule IPs and schedule urgent cardiac diagnostics.
* Liaise with OP Clinic for urgent cardiac diagnostics.
* Coordinate the sanctioning process for echo referrals.
* Assist in audit on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly basis and for scorecard data.

Job responsibilities
* Demonstrate an awareness of the needs and priorities of co‑workers, both within the Cardiac Department and the Cardiac Catheter Suite; coordinate and cooperate with other members of the team.
* Attend and participate in departmental meetings and contribute to issues relating to quality of care, technical standards and efficiency improvements, as applied to own area of work.
* Demonstrate a basic awareness of stock control and ordering systems and of the importance of monitoring expenditure and efficiency of stock usage and communicate with senior colleagues to allow them to manage these.
* Undertake work in a timely and efficient way, meeting deadlines and keeping senior colleagues informed of changes in own workload.
* Maintain clinical documentation and databases as directed, participate in the provision of data for statistical analysis and adhere to departmental standards of record keeping with respect to accuracy, timeliness of completion and confidentiality.
* Exercise initiative and judgement in solving problems related to own workload, whilst keeping others informed and recognising when there is a need to refer problems to senior colleagues and being responsive to advice given.
General
