Job Role
CBRE Global Workplace Solutions seeks Shift Engineers with experience in Critical Environments or those looking to transition into this field. As a Shift Engineer on the Data Centre Solutions team, you will support the operation and maintenance of site electrical systems and related plant.
Responsibilities
* Ensure electrical systems are operated and maintained to required codes of practice and industry guidelines.
* Maintain PPMs for as-built equipment, ensuring they are completed on time and to high standards.
* Carry out day‑to‑day maintenance and respond to reactive issues concerning all electrical equipment and assets.
* Record and report information to computer‑based systems, mainly the PPM system.
* Identify faults, apply rectifications, and escalade when necessary for heating, ventilation and air conditioning issues.
* Install and modify site electrical services.
* Communicate effectively with the Shift Supervisor regarding plant status, isolation, issues, works and housekeeping standards.
* Provide accurate parts lists and report difficulties encountered during engineering activities to the Shift Supervisor.
* Maintain high housekeeping standards in plant areas, workshops, stores and changing/rest areas.
* Operate and troubleshoot the following systems:
o Building Electrical Installation (panels, equipment, circuits)
o Emergency lighting, lighting control systems
o Building Management Systems (BMS)
o Fire suppression and detection systems
o Air conditioning systems (VAV, FCU, split)
o AHUs and variable speed drives
o Heating systems
o Generators and controls
o Single and three‑phase motors
o UPS systems and associated controls
o HV systems (training provided)
Skills
* Previous experience in the Building Services industry.
* Electrical services/maintenance qualification (C&G) or equivalent.
* 18th Edition IEE: Wiring & Installation competent.
* HV Approved Person.
* Confined space entry training where required.
* Recognised training or apprenticeship.
* Strong communication skills and ability to interact with all staff levels.
* Technical competence in building services, especially UPS, generators, static switches, water treatment, refrigeration and air conditioning.
* Proactive pursuit of high operational standards.
* Willingness to attend on‑ and off‑site training, including nights away from home.
* Reliability, conscientiousness, integrity, honesty and punctuality.
* Individuals who do not meet all requirements may be considered subject to client approval.
* Ability to comprehend and act on both verbal and written instructions.
* Enthusiasm, pro‑activity, diligence and alertness, with willingness to participate in appropriate training schemes.
