THE EMPLOYER IS: VISUAL SPECTRUM STUDIOS LTD. To support the lighting and technical team across warehouse and onsite operations, learning the fundamentals of lighting technology, equipment handling, rigging, programming, and live event support. This is a hands-on, practical role ideal for someone passionate about the live events industry and looking to build a long-term career.
Responsibilities
* Assist in prepping, testing, and packing lighting and visual equipment in the warehouse.
* Support with load-ins and load-outs for events and jobs.
* Learn and assist with the setup, rigging, and operation of lighting fixtures, cabling, control systems, and power distribution on-site.
* Shadow senior technicians to understand programming and show operation using industry-standard lighting consoles.
* Help with de-rigging, equipment checks, and returns to the warehouse after jobs.
* Maintain a clean and organised work environment in both the warehouse and on-site.
* Assist in routine maintenance and cleaning of lighting fixtures and accessories.
* Follow all health & safety procedures and company policies.
* Attend any training sessions or manufacturer demos as part of development.
Skills and Qualifications
* Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
* Genuine interest in lighting, events, or technical production.
* Able to follow instructions and work well in a team.
* Strong attention to detail when handling and prepping kit.
* Basic problem-solving ability.
* Flexible with working hours and tasks.
* Awareness of (or willingness to learn) health & safety procedures.
* Passion for lighting, live events, or the technical production industry.
* Basic understanding of how lighting works (e.g. DMX, LED, moving lights).
* Willingness to learn and work hard in physically demanding environments.
* Ability to work as part of a team under pressure.
* Some familiarity with lighting consoles (e.g. Avolites, MA) is a bonus.
* Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential).
Further Information
The job start opportunity includes standard hours up to 25 hours per week. Flexible/reduced hours may be available upon approval by a Work Coach. Additional hours may be offered depending on availability; discuss with the employer before starting employment. The job advert may end before the closing date if requested by the employer.
