Overview

Title: Legal Counsel, Global Procurement

AVEVA is creating software trusted by over 90% of leading industrial companies.

Department: Legal, Global Inbound Contracting

Location: London, hybrid


Role Summary

We are hiring a Legal Counsel to join the Global Legal Procurement team. This role is central to how AVEVA procures technology, adopts AI internally, partners with key suppliers and manages contractual risk across global operations. The work covers SaaS and cloud services, AI and automation platforms, software licensing, professional services, HR systems, marketing and events support and large cross functional transformation programs. You will work with autonomy on complex and high impact matters, run negotiations from start to finish and provide practical, solutions-oriented advice to internal stakeholders.


Responsibilities

* Technology, SaaS and Cloud Procurement
* Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements for technology and enterprise services including SaaS and cloud master services agreements, software licensing agreements and professional services agreements.
* Typical activity includes:
* Leading negotiations, including drafting, redlining and coordinating with supplier counsel
* Advising the business on contractual risk and operational impacts
* Ensuring alignment with procurement governance, including internal approval processes and contract templates
* Supporting urgent or business critical engagements
* AI-Enabled Services and Responsible AI Contracting
* Support AVEVA’s governance of AI procurement and adoption by:
* Negotiating AI-specific contractual protections
* Partnering with Security, Privacy and Enterprise Architecture on AI risk assessments and DPIAs
* Assessing AI-related contractual risk
* Supporting the rollout of enterprise AI governance to business teams
* Data Protection, Security and Compliance
* Work with Data Protection, Security and IT Architecture teams to ensure:
* Alignment of contractual frameworks with AVEVA’s privacy, security and regulatory standards, ensuring risk tolerance and operational safeguards for high‑impact systems.
* Strategic Programme Support
* Provide legal support to global, multi-workstream technology and operational programs. This includes:
* Reviewing complex multi-document contractual frameworks
* Advising on milestones, acceptance criteria, dependencies, governance and change control
* Assessing liability models, delay and service credits, commercial structures and termination rights
* Business Enablement
* Provide clear, concise and commercially focused advice to Procurement, IT, Security, HR, Finance, Marketing and other functions
* Support improvements to templates, playbooks and contracting processes
* Contribute to team reporting and insights for leadership


Essential


Required Experience

* In-house experience in the technology or software sector
* Experience with SaaS, cloud, software licensing and professional services agreements
* Ability to lead negotiations independently and manage multiple matters
* Working knowledge of privacy and security issues
* Strong drafting skills and ability to simplify complex issues

Hybrid working

By default, employees are expected to be in their local AVEVA office three days a week, but some positions are fully office-based. Roles supporting particular customers or markets are sometimes remote.
