A contract development and manufacturing organisation (CDMO) specialising in lateral flow test development is seeking a motivated and skilled Scientist to join its growing team. The organisation partners with a diverse client base, including universities, start-ups, and established life science companies, providing services across human clinical, environmental, veterinary, toxicology, and agricultural sectors. In addition to development and manufacturing, the organisation supplies a range of reagents and materials used within the lateral flow industry.


Position Overview

The successful candidate will ideally have experience in diagnostic test development, particularly lateral flow technologies. The role is primarily laboratory-based and includes product development, manufacturing, validation, and quality control activities. The Scientist will be expected to plan and execute experiments, troubleshoot as needed, and ensure proper documentation is maintained.

As the organisation is entering a period of growth, the Scientist will play a key role in supporting this expansion through innovation, technical support, and process improvement.


Key Responsibilities

* Plan, conduct, troubleshoot, and write up laboratory experiments to required standards
* Support the development and manufacture of lateral flow tests and associated components
* Perform quality control testing and document results accurately
* Assist in buffer and reagent preparation for test manufacture
* Calibrate equipment in line with standard procedures
* Prepare and present technical data to internal stakeholders and customers
* Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of technical documentation (SOPs, records)
* Support technical areas including quality control, compliance, and manufacturing
* Provide technical support to customers as required
* Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment
* Foster positive working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and clients


Required Skills and Experience

* Hands-on experience in a laboratory setting
* Experience in product or assay development
* Proven capability in immunoassay development (lateral flow preferred)
* Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
* Ability to plan and execute experiments under quality and safety guidelines
* Strong written and verbal communication skills


Desirable Qualifications

* Degree in a scientific discipline such as Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Microbiology
* Experience in the diagnostics industry
* Lateral flow and/or ELISA development experience
* Prior customer-facing or technical support experience
